With Labor Day marking the official end of summer fun, it doesn't mean the fun has to stop. There are a number of bike friendly events taking place this month. To start things off, we'll be closing early on Tuesday, September 9th to fly to Las Vegas, baby, for America's biggest bicycle industry show, Interbike. We'll be back on Saturday, September 13th but don't expect us to tell you what we saw or what we did because, as you know, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. On Friday the 19th, Park(ing) Day kicks off the busy weekend. When you're out and about that day be sure to look for the mini green spaces taking over parking spots throughout city streets. On Saturday the 20th, come check out the Spring Garden Street Pop-Up Greenway. The 900 block of Spring Garden Street will be closed off for the day (don't worry we'll be open) with food, beer, and entertainment to bring awareness to this project to create tree lined barricaded bike lanes down the center of Spring Garden St. Rounding up the weekend on Sunday the 21st we'll be down at the Fleisher Art Memorial in south Philly for ABCs of Family Biking from 11am until 3pm. The folks that organize Kidical Mass hold this special event for bike curious parents and their kids to meet other like minded families, get tips on riding in the city, and try out some alternative family bikes. After such a busy month you'll probably want to unwind by attending the Philadelphia Bikes & Beers event. The name of this one pretty much says it all. Starts and ends at Yards Brewing with stops at three bars in between. Registration required. Event begins at 9:30am and 20% of proceeds will go to the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia.
