Green Guru has been up-cycling old inner tubes and banners to make colorful and super practical bags to haul your groceries, beer, or whatever for a few years now. We like that they do this and that they're made right here in the USA. Win and win. We just got a new shipment of assorted bags in various sizes, shapes, and hot colors including the Dutchy Pannier and Touring Townie Handlebar Bag pictured. New items include the Upshift and Mini Clincher Frame Bags, the small Clutch and Transition Saddlebags for essentials only, and their new Andromeda Tote Bag that doubles as a pannier, very roomy and very stylish. Plus we have backpacks and top tube protectors. Because every bag is different, you'll have to stop into the shop to see what they look like.
Every time that you ride your bike instead of drive your car is a celebration of mother earth. You deserve a high five for that. You can get to where you need to go by bike AND take your stuff with you. There's no excuse anymore. We have lots of gear to carry that stuff. Here are some new items in stock. We're excited to have an assortment of bags and baskets from Linus. Starting with the Sac, it's a great looking bag made of water-resistant treated canvas that attaches to a rear rack while on the bike with carrying handle and optional shoulder strap when off. We've got it in sand/black or navy/aqua with other colors available to order. If you don't need to take too much with you then the Pipette or Pouch is just the thing. Keys, phone, credit card and off you go. The Pipette shown in navy can go beneath your saddle or on your handlebar and when off the bike carried with the wrist strap. We love it's shape; you could fit a hot dog in there! The versatile Pouch shown in army green can be strapped to your handlebar, top tube, or beneath your saddle. Stopping at the farmers market to pick up some locally grown veg is NBD with the Wire Basket shown in iron. Hook onto your rack, take off with the handle. Plus we have a couple of their lovely wicker baskets not pictured.
For those who like a bit more pop Basil of The Netherlands has some pretty new prints on their rear panniers. This Wanderlust single carry all bag is available in ivory with an all-over pattern of birds, butterflies, and flowers (mother earth loves mother nature.) We also have the Wanderlust double pannier bags, same design but on a charcoal background. All that pattern and color not your thing? We've restocked some of our more popular Ortlieb bags like the Velocity Backpack in dark grey, pictured, and, not pictured, the Bike Shopper also in dark grey or a deep red. Ortlieb will always keep your stuff dry if caught in a downpour. Stop by the shop and check 'em out.
Meanwhile in the Netherlands... March 05 2016
Spring flowers have started popping up in Holland and Dutch people are out riding their bikes enjoying this sensual feast. Here, the Philadelphia Flower Show marks the unofficial beginning of spring. Thousands of people flock to the show because there's nothing like looking at and smelling flowers to put one in a seasonal mood. The actual first day of spring isn't far away though, just another 15 days. Now's a good time to get your bike tuned up or buy a new one so you're ready to go when the warm weather decides to stick around. We carry a large assortment of products to make your bike practical like the one pictured. We have oodles of baskets and panniers (a great way to transport your garden flowers) from Basil, Ortlieb, Wald, and more. Since you'll want to bring your kid along to help you choose between red tulips or pink hyacinth, we have seats for one year olds on up (like the one pictured above) from Yepp and Bobike. And we get new stuff in all the time.

While The Reindeer Are Off Duty... December 18 2014
While the reindeer only work eight hour days, five days a week, Santa goes 24/7 delivering your gifts on his bicycle. Bet you didn't know that. We have lots of great gift items to throw in your basket, like locks from Abus, cool and colorful helmets by Nutcase, locally made cycling caps by Alloneword, kids balaclavas (also made in Philly) from Rebourne, Flip Flop balance bikes from Yuba, classic cycling bags from Carradice, and much, much more. Don't have a basket (or rack or pannier bags?) We've tons of options from Ortlieb, Racktime, Wald, and Basil (to name a few.) Better yet, we have cargo bikes from Pashley, Soma, Xtracycle, Yuba, and Gazelle, to get even more stuff home. Don't know what to get? We have gift cards too!
It's Raining Again October 11 2014
Yup, it's raining, but don't let that stop you from getting on your bike to go to work or do the shopping. We've got plenty of options to keep you dry so no excuses. Carradice has been making rain gear in England since the 1930s. If there's one thing the English know about (besides tea and pork pie) it's rain and how to stay dry in it. Carradice's classic Duxback Rain Poncho is made of waxed cotton and longer in the front so it not only covers your hands but your legs too. Say goodbye to those sweaty nylon rain pants! If you like something a bit more moderne, their Pro-Route Cycle Cape in high-viz yellow polyester provides the same maximum coverage. So that covers you, but what about your gear or groceries? We have numerous water resistant (for short trips) and waterproof panniers. Basil makes stylish and colorful water-repellent single or double panniers like the Basonyl double bag in hot pink and silver vinyl or the Blossom Botanica single shopper in a black and white pop-art print. Green Guru make their upcycled waterproof bags form old vinyl signs and inner tubes in Boulder, Colorado. And Blackburn does their minimalist waterproof Barrier Rear Pannier with a roll top and their Central Rear Pannier and Saddle bags come in a grey water-resistant fabric with lots of inner pockets and a stowable rain cover. Now that I've told you all about some of our great gear, looks like the rain is stopping. Check our website or call the shop for prices and availability.
Let Your Bike Carry The Load January 17 2014
While a cargo bike is a great way to lug things around town we do have smaller options that work with just about any bicycle to tote your stuff. Tons of panniers, baskets and bags (and the racks to mount them on) to get the weight off your back and let your bike do the work. Germany's Racktime makes stylish bags that clip into their own front or rear racks for a completely integrated, strong, and secure carrying system. For those who want to make a bold statement, Basil from the Netherlands offers water resistant panniers in bright and colorful florals or simpler color blocks for graphic pop. Here in the USA, Green Guru is recycling old bicycle inner tubes and advertising banners for their panniers. As for front baskets, you'll find the trust worthy Wald basket (still made in America) does the job, Basil makes colorful lift off baskets (we have one in yellow) or for larger gear we've got a market rack from Civia. And that's not all. Come by the shop to see the rest of our collection or call for pricing.
